Francisco Pino received his B.S. in Electrical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Chile, and obtained his Master and PhD in Economics at Boston University (May 2012). He worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the European Center for Advanced Research in Economics (ECARES) at the Université Libre de Bruxelles between 2012 and 2015. In September 2015, he joined the Department of Economics at the University of Chile as an Assistant Professor.
His main research interests are in Political Economy, Labor economics, Economic History and Economics of Gender. He uses applied micro econometric techniques to study how institutional changes can have a long-lasting effect in issues such as gender roles, upper-tail human capital mobility, and development.
Francisco Pino joined IZA as a Research Fellow in July 2019.
