Francesco Amodio is a Professor in the Department of Economics and the Institute for the Study of International Development at McGill University. He studies the private sector in low- and middle-income countries, focusing on how industrial development—through firms, productivity, trade, industrial policy, and labor markets—can drive economic growth and reduce poverty. He was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Yale University and a Visiting Scholar at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. He is also a Research Affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and the Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD). His work has been published in the American Economic Review, The Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of the European Economic Association, and the Economic Journal, among others.
