Stefanie Fischer is an Assistant Professor of Economics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2015.
Fischer’s research lies in the areas of education, public and behavioral economics. She employs quasi-experimental techniques and field experiments to answer policy-relevant empirical questions with a focus on topics of inequality. Her work includes understanding social spillovers, disparities in academic achievement, and more recently understanding how access to reproductive care affects fertility behavior.
Stefanie Fischer joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in June 2019.
