Laura Pohlan studied economics at the University of Mannheim from 2008 to 2013. She worked as a researcher in the research department “Labour Markets and Human Resources” at ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim from 2013 to 2020. In July 2018, she completed her PhD with her thesis entitled “Essays on Unemployment, Job Search Behavior and Policy Interventions” at the University of Mannheim. She is currently working as a senior researcher in the research department “Labour Market Processes and Institutions” at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) in Nuremberg.

Her research interests include the empirical analysis of search and hiring processes and the role of frictions in the labour market. A special focus lies on the labour market integration of the long-term unemployed.

Laura Pohlan joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in January 2022.
