Francesca Calamunci

Francesca Calamunci is Assistant Professor (RTdB) in Economics at University of Catania. She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Messina in November 2019. Following her doctoral studies, she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Catania until March 2022, with a visiting period at BAFFI CAREFIN - Clean Unit (Bocconi University). From April 2022 until November 2022 she was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Sapienza University of Rome. Then, she was Junior Assistant Professor in Economics at Sapienza University of Rome, and Assistant Professor (RTT) in Economics at Sapienza University of Rome until February 2025.
Francesca has also been recognized Fulbright-Falcone-NIAF Scholar 2017-2018 and she worked as a consultant for the World Bank.
Her research interests primarily focus on applied microeconometrics within the fields of labor economics, organized crime, crime, and political economy.
