Steffen Müller

Steffen Mueller is Head of the Department for Structural Change and Productivity at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) and Professor of Economics at Magdeburg University.

His main research areas are labor economics, business dynamism, and firm productivity. Within these fields, he focusses on job displacement, technology adoption, worker participation in decision making, and the long-run consequences of German unification. Steffen received his PhD in economics in 2009 from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He lives in Leipzig, Germany.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2023.
