Mehtabul Azam is an associate professor at Oklahoma State University (OSU). Prior to OSU, he worked with the Human Development Department of the World Bank's Europe and Central Asia unit. He obtained his PhD in Economics from Southern Methodist University, and M.A. in Economics from Delhi School of Economic. His research interests are in the field of development, labor, education, and public policy. He has worked on many issues related to poverty, inequality, intergenerational mobility, labor markets, returns to language skills, intra-household allocation, education, social protection policies, and program evaluation.

He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in January 2009 and became a Research Fellow in December 2011.
