Tim Kaiser is a Professor of Economics at the University of Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU), Researcher at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, CESifo Research Network Affiliate, and a member of the Research Advisory Group of the OECD/INFE.

He is also associated with the Mannheim Institute for Financial Education (MIFE), a joint initiative of the University of Mannheim and the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). He received his doctoral degree in Economics and Social Sciences from the University of Kiel and was a research associate at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin). From March 2025 until August 2025, Tim has been a visiting scholar at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR).

His research interests are in the area of applied microeconomics, especially economics of education, development economics, and household finance.

Tim Kaiser joined IZA as an Research Affiliate in April 2023.
