Gary Charness passed away on May 17, 2024. He had been an IZA Research Fellow since 2011. His specialization was in experimental and behavioral research, conducting both laboratory and field experiments to investigate a wide variety of economic and social environments. He published his research in many journals, including Econometrica, American Economic Review, Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Economic Theory, Games and Economic Behavior, and Management Science. He received his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan, and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California at Berkeley.
