Colm Harmon is Vice Principal and Professor of Economics at University of Edinburgh. He received his BA and MA in Economics from UCD, and his PhD from the University of Keele in 1997.

Prior to Edinburgh he was Professor and Vice Provost at the University of Sydney, and Professor of Economics at University College Dublin. He has held visiting appointments at Princeton University, University College London, Australian National University, University of Chicago, and the University of Warwick.

He has, together with colleagues, published papers in the American Economic Review, Economic Journal, Economica, Economic and Social Review, European Economic Review, Fiscal Studies, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Health Economics, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, and Labour Economics amongst others, and has made a number of policy related contributions locally and internationally. He is a co-Editor of Economics of Education Review.

He joined IZA as a research fellow in November 2000
