Sebastian Ottinger is an Assistant Professor at CERGE-EI since September 2022. Before he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Economic History at Northwestern University. He received his Ph.D. from UCLA Anderson School of Management in June 2021 and his BA and MA from the University of Zurich.

His research in political economy and urban economics draws on American and European economic history.

Sebastian Ottinger joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in October 2021 and became a Research Fellow in January 2025.
