Christine Harbring studied economics at the University of Bonn. She received her degree as Diplom-Volkswirt in 2000 and her Ph.D. in 2003 for her doctoral dissertation entitled “Experimental Studies on Incentives in Organizations“. Christine Harbring worked as a researcher at the “Chair of Business Administration II – Personnel and Organizational Economics“ (2000-2004) and as a consultant with a focus on leadership and organizational development for the management consulting company Towers Perrin (2004-2005). In 2005, she has been awarded a research grant by the German Research Foundation for her project “On Trust and Performance Management in Organizations”. Since then Christine Harbring has been working on this research project at the Department of Personnel Economics and Human Resource Management at the University of Cologne.
In April 2010, she became Professor for Human Resource Management at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. In October 2010 she moved to RWTH Aachen University where she works as Professor for Organization.

She publishes for instance in Management Science, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Labour Economics, Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, German Economic Review, Managerial and Decision Economics, or Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung.

Her research interests include Personnel and Organizational Economics as well as Behavioral and Experimental Economics.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in June 2007.
