Michael Oberfichtner is a senior researcher at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB). He joined the IAB in 2015. From 2011 to 2017, he worked as a researcher at the Chair of Labour and Regional Economics at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where he completed his PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) in 2015. During his PhD studies he held a scholarship of the Bavarian Graduate Program in Economics (BGPE).

Michael Oberfichtner’s current research focuses on imperfect competition in labor markets, on understanding gender differences in employment outcomes, and on field experiments to evaluate labor market policies.

Michael Oberfichtner joined IZA as a research fellow in September 2022.
