Catherine van der List is an Assistant Professor at the University of Essex. She earned her PhD from the University of British Columbia in 2023

Catherine’s work is concentrated at the intersection of labor, public, and urban economics. Specifically, she is interested in how the features of local geographic areas shape the impact of public policies across space as well as applying this knowledge to inform the design of public policy.

Catherine van der List joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in April 2024.
