Kurt Mitman is an Assistant Professor at the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University, a Researcher at the University of Oslo, and a Research Affiliate of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.
His research focuses broadly on macroeconomics. He is particularly interested in housing, household debt and default, and labor market dynamics. He has published work in the American Economic Review, the Journal of Monetary Economics and the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control.
He is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the Review of Economic Studies, an Associate Editor at the Journal of the European Economic Association and Macroeconomic Dynamics and a Panel Member of Economic Policy. Dr. Mitman is a dual US and German citizen. He received his BS in Physics from the University of Virginia and his PhD in Economics at the University of Pennsylvania. He also studied at the undergraduate level at Cambridge University and at the masters level at Oxford University.
