Pierpaolo Parrotta is Professor at the University of Siena.

After receiving his PhD in Economics from Aarhus Business School (Aarhus University) in 2011, he worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher jointly at the University of Lausanne and Aarhus University from 2011 to 2013, and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Maastricht from 2014 to 2015. He worked as an Associate Professor at ICN Business School from 2016 to 2018, and as a Full Professor at IESEG School of Management from 2018 to 2023.

His research interests lie in the fields of industrial organisation, labour economics, international trade, environmental economics and economics of crime.

Pierpaolo joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 2015
