Luca Stella is an Associate Professor of Economics (with tenure) at the University of Milan. Before that, he worked as a Junior Professor at the Freie Universität Berlin, and as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at Bocconi University and at the University of Wuppertal.

Luca received the B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Economics and Social Sciences from Bocconi University, and obtained the Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Padua. During his Ph.D. he spent two years as a visiting student at Boston University.

Luca is a labor economist working on migration, health economics, and demography. In particular, he studies the challenges and implications of technological advancements, such as digitalization, robotization, and AI, on both individuals and firms.

Luca joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in February 2015 and became an IZA Research Fellow in December 2023.
