Jürgen Meckl is Professor of Economics at the Justus Liebig University, Giessen (Germany). He received his doctoral degree in 1993, and obtained his habilitation degree in 2000, both from the University of Konstanz, Germany. His research interests include employment and distribution theory, economic growth, and international economics. His work has been published in Journals as American Economic Review, Economic Theory, The Economic Journal, among other journals.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in November 2002.
