Gil S. Epstein obtained his doctorate in Economics and Statistics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel in 1994. After spending two and a half years at the University of Pennsylvania he joined the Department of Economics at Bar-Ilan University, Israel.

Gil is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics and is an Associate Editor for economics. In addition, he is a Research Fellow in IZA and a Research Fellow in CReAM.

Gil has published in Journals such as Management Science, Journal of Development Economics, European Economic Review, Social Choice and Welfare and Journal of Public Economics. His book on Endogenous Public Policy and Contests (2007)(coauthored with Shmuel Nitzan) has been published by Springer. Gil also edited together with Ira N. Gang a volume on Migration and Culture (2010) which was published by Emerald.

His current research interests include issues in Political Economy, Public Choice, Labor Economics, Migration and Public Policy.
