Yoram Weiss
Yoram Weiss
Emeritus Research Fellow

Yoram Weiss received his MA in economics from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1964 and his Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University in 1968. He was a member of the Economics Department at Tel-Aviv University in from 1968 to 2008. During this period also held visiting positions in several leading universities in the US and Europe. He retired on 2008 and is now Professor Emeritus. He held the Daniel and Grace Ross Chair in Labor Economics during 1993-2010. He published over 50 articles in leading journals, edited 3 books and is now engaged in finishing a graduate text on family economics. He was an editor of the Journal of Labor Economics during 1993- 2005 and president of the society of labor economist in 2008. He received the Mincer Prize in 2009 and became an honorary foreign member of the AEA in 2011. He served on three government committees in Israel concerning: determination of wages in the public sector, 1985-89, absorption of skilled immigrants in, 1994 and welfare to work programs, 2006-7. He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in December 2001.
