Helena Skyt Nielsen is a professor at Aarhus University since 2007. She was previously employed as an assistant (1998-2002) and then associate professor (2002-2007) at Aarhus University. Helena Skyt Nielsen received her PhD in Economics from the University of Aarhus in 1999 for the thesis "Human Capital Investment in Zambia". Her contributions are published in Economic Journal, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Development Economics, International Economic Review and other journals.

Her main area of interest is labour economics with a focus on economics of education and economics of gender and the family.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2004.
