Climent Quintana-Domeque (Barcelona, 1980) is Professor of Economics at the University of Exeter, a Research Fellow of the IZA@LISER network, and a member of the Human Capital and Economic Opportunity Family Inequality network at the University of Chicago. He received his Llicenciatura in Economics from Universitat Pompeu Fabra, graduating first in the class of 2002, and completed his PhD in Economics at Princeton University in 2008 under the supervision of Alan Krueger. Before joining Exeter, he held academic positions at Universitat d'Alacant, where he received tenure in 2012, and at the University of Oxford, where he was Associate Professor of Economics and Tutorial Fellow at St Edmund Hall and received tenure in 2017.

Climent is an applied microeconomist whose research spans health, family and household economics, development, inequality, and public policy evaluation, with more recent work on domestic abuse, non-fatal strangulation laws, and intimate partner homicide. His work has been published in journals including the Journal of Political Economy, Journal of the European Economic Association, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Health Economics, Demography, and the Economic Journal. Together with Marco Gonzalez-Navarro, he co-authored research described by Andrew Leigh in Randomistas (2018) as “the world's first study of the true impact of public road building on property values” (p. 110).

Climent has held a range of editorial and professional service roles. He has served as Associate Editor of Economics and Human Biology, as a member of the editorial board of Oxford Economic Papers, and as guest editor of a special issue of the Review of Economics of the Household in honour of Nobel laureate Angus Deaton. He served as an editor of the Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics from 2018 to 2025 and is a member of the Council of the Royal Economic Society.

At the University of Exeter, he teaches “Econometrics: Cause and Effect,” has been Subject Lead for Applied Microeconomics since 2023, and supervises postgraduate researchers. In 2024, he received the University of Exeter Supervisor of the Year Award.

In 2026, he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences.

He joined IZA@LISER as a Research Fellow in October 2010.
