I am a Professor of Economics at Royal Holloway, University of London and the Editor-in-Chief of the European Economic Review, and the Founding Editor of the Journal of Economics, Management and Religion.
My previous academic appointments include the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, Brown University and the University of Bristol. I completed a PhD in economics at New York University.
My research focuses on labor force dynamics, entrepreneurship, volunteerism and the economics of religion. I've published my work in Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, the International Economic Review and the Journal of Labor Economics, amongst many other scientific journals. I also have forthcoming books with World Scientific and Oxford University Press.
In addition, I've published numerous essays and opinion pieces on contemporary economic and social issues in the popular press and have appeared on podcasts to discuss them.
I joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2004.
