I am a Professor of Economics at Royal Holloway, University of London, Editor-in-Chief of the European Economic Review (EER), and Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economics, Management and Religion (JEMAR). My previous academic appointments include the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, Brown University and the University of Bristol. I completed a PhD in economics at New York University.

My research focuses on labor force dynamics and entrepreneurship. I've published my work in leading professional journals such as Econometrica, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, the International Economic Review and the Journal of Labor Economics. I have also published four books with World Scientific Press. In addition, I have published numerous essays and opinion pieces on contemporary social issues in the popular press and have appeared on podcasts to discuss them.

I joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2004.
