Dean Yang is a Professor at the Department of Economics and the Ford School of Public Policy, University of Michigan. His areas of interest include international migration and remittances, microfinance, human capital, disasters, international trade, and crime and corruption. He has been lead investigator on several randomized field experiments worldwide on migration, remittances, and microfinance. He teaches courses in development economics and microeconomics at the undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. levels. A native of the Philippines, he received his undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees in economics from Harvard University.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2007.
