Björn Öckert is a Professor at the Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy (IFAU) in Uppsala, Sweden. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Stockholm University. His research focuses on economics of education and labor economics, with a particular emphasis on the economic returns to education and skills, effects of school resources, and the transmission of skills within and between families.

His research has been published in journals such as Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, and Journal of Human Resources.

Björn Öckert joined IZA as a Research Fellow in June 2023.
