Gaurav Chiplunkar is an Assistant Professor at the Darden Business School, University of Virginia. His research focuses on studying the causes and consequences of labor market frictions in low-income countries, with a particular emphasis on the barriers faced by women and the youth.
Gaurav studies how policy reforms and the advent of digital technologies can help mitigate these barriers, as well as their aggregate implications on the allocation of resources and talent in the economy, and its consequences on economic growth and productivity. His research contributes to areas of development and labor economics, along with gender and personnel economics.
Gaurav completed his Bachelors in Economics from Delhi University, his Masters in Economics and Economic Research from the London School of Economics and the University of Cambridge, and his Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.
Gaurav Chiplunkar joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in April 2023.
