Meiping Aggie Sun, Ph.D., is Professor of Economics at the China Economic Research Institute, Shandong University of Finance and Economics. She was previously a tenure-track Assistant Professor at Fordham University. Her research focuses on perinatal and early childhood public health policies in developing countries, including prenatal checkups, skilled birth attendance, and child growth and development monitoring. Her work has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Health Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, and Humanities and Social Sciences Communications.
Dr. Sun holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Columbia University and bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Economics, and Mathematics from Berea College. Her research has been supported by fellowships and grants from organizations including the Economic History Association, the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation, the Institute of International Education, and Fordham University. She has also received the Humane Studies Fellowship from the Institute for Humane Studies, as well as multiple dissertation and academic administration fellowships from Columbia University.
Her contributions to public health research have been recognized through numerous awards, including the Best Poster Award at the Asian Workshop on Econometrics and Health Economics; Honorable Mentions for the 2024 and 2025 Innovative Policy Research Award from the Asian Development Bank and the International Economic Association; the APEC “Healthy Women, Healthy Economies” Research Prize; and publication awards from Fordham University.
