Laura K. Gee received her PhD in Economics from UC San Diego in 2013 under the supervision of James Andreoni.

She is a behavioral economist with a broad interest in how we can design institutions to influence individual decisions when individual decisions are intertwined with the actions of a group. Much of her research has explored this issue in two settings: the provision of public goods and job searching in the labor market. Her overarching objectives have been (a) to test mechanisms that increase the provision of public goods, such as those provided by nonprofit organizations, and (b) to advance our understanding of how job seekers search for jobs using newly available data from online sources like Facebook and LinkedIn.

Laura joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in November 2016 and became an IZA Research Fellow in November 2021.
