Mariya Aleksynska is a Research and Policy Economist, with a PhD in Economics and over 10 years of experience in International, Development, and Labour Economics. She is a former ILO official (2012-2018), former CEPII researcher (Paris-based research center in International Economics: 2008-2012), former research assistant at Cambridge and Bocconi universities, including for the IMF-funded projects; former instructor at Sciences Po Paris, Nanterre University (Paris X), and ILO-ITC. Mariya has a strong publication record in top-ranked international journals and a solid experience in policy and technical advice for international fora and within institutional collaborations, including G-20, ILO-Eurofound, ILO-OECD, ILO-KNOMAD (World Bank). Her areas of expertise include: work in the digital (gig) economy, non-standard forms of employment, labour market institutions such as employment protection, informality and undeclared work, international migration.
She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in October 2014.
