Philippe Askenazy is senior researcher in economics at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS, Centre Maurice Halbwachs), professor at the Ecole Normale Supérieure.

He obtained his PhD in political economics from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). He was the elected president of the "Economics and Management Sciences" section of the French National Research Committee 2008-2012, and member of the Council of Economic Analysis, French Prime Minister 2012-2015. He is currently member of the CNRS Ethics Committee.

His main research interests focus on working conditions, collective bargaining, labour policy and firm performances. They include theoretical and empirical studies on organizational and technical changes, occupational health and safety or the future of low-wage jobs.

He has published in such economic journals as Journal of the European Economic Association, Economic Journal, Journal of Economic Theory or Industrial Relations.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2005.
