Research Affiliate

Diego De la Fuente Stevens is an applied economist at the University of Sussex, where he is Course Director for the BSc Economics and Sustainable Development. His research uses microeconometric methods to study education, labour markets, and social outcomes, with a focus on Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Current projects examine intergenerational educational mobility among Indigenous groups, the impact of compulsory schooling reforms on long-run outcomes, teacher wellbeing and retention in conflict-affected settings, and the effects of agricultural performance on crime.
Before joining Sussex, he worked as a policy adviser in Mexico. He is a Research Affiliate of the IZA Institute of Labor Economics.
