Membership Terms

Network Background

The IZA@LISER Network (hereinafter “IZA@LISER Network” or “network”) is an international academic
network of labour economists, researchers, authors, and contributors coordinated and supported by the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER). The IZA@LISER Network does not have separate legal personality.

 

LISER is a Luxembourg public research establishment (établissement public) registered with the Luxembourg Trade and Companies Register under number J57 and having its registered office at:

The purpose of the network is to foster international collaboration, research dissemination, and academic
exchange among scholars working in labour economics and related fields. It also seeks to
contribute evidence-based analysis of labour market issues and to foster dialogue between academia,
policymakers, and society.

Membership Status

Individuals may be invited to join the network as:
• Research Fellows; or
• Research Affiliates.

 

Research Affiliates may be evaluated periodically based on their academic progress and research contributions. Subject to such evaluation, Research Affiliates may be invited to become Research Fellows.

 

Membership constitutes an academic affiliation only and does not create any employment relationship,
contractual engagement, remuneration entitlement, or agency relationship with LISER.

 

Membership in the IZA@LISER Network is honorary and academic in nature and does not confer any
right to remuneration, funding, reimbursement, or other financial benefits from LISER unless expressly
agreed in a separate written agreement.

Use of Network Affiliation

During their active membership, members may publicly indicate their affiliation with the IZA@LISER
Network, including in:
• academic publications
• institutional webpages
• professional profiles
• conference materials.


Such affiliation must not imply that members represent LISER or speak on behalf of the network unless
expressly authorised.

Member Profile and Network Services

Membership in the network includes the creation of a public member profile on relevant LISER-operated
platforms and/or websites.
Members may be asked to provide information including:
• Name
• institutional affiliation
• email address
• academic biography
• curriculum vitae
• photograph
• links to academic webpages.

​​​​​​​Members may receive login credentials enabling access to certain network services or digital platforms.
Members are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the information they provide and for keeping
their profile information up to date.

Membership Duration and Termination

Membership is granted for an initial period of five (5) years.

At the end of the initial period, membership may be renewed for successive one (1) year periods unless
terminated by either party.

Members may terminate their membership at any time by notifying LISER via email.

LISER reserves the right to terminate membership where necessary for organisational, academic, ethical,
or operational reasons.

Member Expectations

Members are expected to contribute to the academic life of the network.

Members are encouraged to:
• participate in network activities
• contribute research outputs where appropriate, including working papers
• support the dissemination of research produced within the network.

Members are expected to adhere to the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity and other
applicable academic standards.

Opinions expressed in publications or member profiles remain those of the respective authors and do
not necessarily reflect the views of LISER.

Members are expected to conduct their academic and professional activities in a manner consistent
with recognised standards of academic integrity and professional ethics.

LISER reserves the right to review membership status where conduct could reasonably be considered
to seriously harm the reputation or integrity of the network.

Reputation and Use of the Network Name

Members shall use the IZA@LISER name and affiliation in a manner consistent with academic integrity
and professional standards.

The network name, logos, and institutional identifiers remain the intellectual property of LISER.

Members shall not use the network name in connection with commercial activities, consultancy services,
lobbying activities, or any activity that could reasonably create confusion regarding institutional
endorsement.

Membership in the IZA@LISER Network does not grant members authority to act on behalf of LISER or
to represent LISER in any institutional, legal, policy, or commercial capacity unless expressly authorised
​​​​​​​in writing by LISER.

Data Protection

To administer network membership and create public member profiles, LISER may process certain personal
data.

 

Such processing is carried out in accordance with LISER’s Privacy Policy available on LISER-operated
websites and / or digital platforms.

 

Members acknowledge that certain profile information may be publicly visible as part of the academic
network. For further information, please refer above under section 4 as well as to LISER’s Privacy Policy.

Relationship with Platform Terms

Access to and use of LISER-operated websites and digital platforms are governed by the applicable
Terms & Conditions of Use.

These Network Membership Terms complement, but do not replace, those Terms & Conditions or any
other specific agreements that may apply.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These IZA@LISER Network Membership Terms shall be governed and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

 

Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms which cannot be settled amicably shall fall within the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Luxembourg City.
