IZA Prize in Labor Economics 2018
Awarded to Joseph G. Altonji

During a gala dinner in the Berlin Museum of Communication on June 28, the 2018 IZA Prize was awarded to Joseph G. Altonji (Yale University) for his seminal contributions to the economic analysis of labor supply, family economics and discrimination.

The event, moderated by IZA Research Director Thomas Dohmen, included welcome addresses by IZA CEO Hilmar Schneider and IZA President Klaus Zumwinkel. Introduced by Daniel S. Hamermesh, Chair of the IZA Prize Committee, laudatory speeches were given by IZA Research Fellows Francine D. Blau, George J. Borjas, and Jeffrey A. Smith.
