Niaz Asadullah received his masters and doctoral degrees in Economics from Oxford University. Currently, he is a lecturer at the Department of Economics, Reading University. He has previously held positions at BRAC, Dhaka University and Oxford University.
His research interests include development economics, economics of education and labor economics. Current research draws upon data from South Asia and focuses on issues such as the impact of international migration on development in the sending countries, intergenerational economic mobility, inequality of opportunity, the quality of Islamic faith schools (aka madrasahs), and the impact of conditional cash transfers on female schooling. His research has been supported by grants from AUSAID, Leverhulme Trust, International Growth Centre (IGC), South Asian Network of Economic Research Institutes (SANEI) and the World Bank. His publication record includes Bulletin of Economic Research, Cambridge Journal of Economics, Economics of Education Review, Journal of Development Studies, Journal of Economic Psychology and World Development.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2007. |
