Proposal for a demand-oriented points-based immigration system

In two extended studies IZA's migration experts aimed at contributing to the future direction of German immigration policy and presented a concrete proposal of a points system and accompanying legal provisions. Based on a thorough analysis of the immigration laws of selected countries (e.g. Canada, Australia) and taking into consideration the specific German circumstances, the studies highlighted the advantages of a points systems and made a proposal of how it could be structured and accentuated in Germany.
