Christoph Basten is an Assistant Professor at the University of Zurich. Previously he has acquired close to 5 years of experience working as a Risk Manager and Economist for the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA, as well as at the ETH Konjunkturforschungsstelle.
He has been educated at Oxford University (BA), Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (MSc), as well as at Harvard and the European University Institute (PhD). During that time, he has acquired work experience at amongst others the IMF, Deutsche Bank and the German Treasury.
His research interests focus on financial intermediation and household finance, which he has published amongst others in the AEJ: Economic Policy, the Economic Journal, and the International Journal of Central Banking.
Christoph Basten joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2015.
