Nadia Karamcheva is an Economist at the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) in Washington DC. Her research interests cover a broad range of topics in labor economics and applied econometrics, with emphasis on retirement and the economics of aging. Before joining CBO, she worked at the Urban Institute where she authored a series of papers and briefs on Social Security, private pension plans, and labor force participation and savings behavior of older adults.

Karamcheva has a PhD in Economics from Boston College, a MA in Economics from the same university and a BA in Economics and Business Administration from the American University in Bulgaria.

She joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in April 2009 and became a Research Fellow in July 2014. She serves in her personal capacity.
