Mark Fallak coordinates the communication activities of the IZA@LISER Network to ensure the continued global visibility of the network’s research following its transition to LISER in 2026. Alongside his work in Luxembourg, he serves as Head of Communications at the SUN Institute for Environment and Sustainability in Bonn. Mark’s career in research communications spans over 25 years. He joined the Bonn-based IZA Institute of Labor Economics in 2000 and led its communications department from 2015 until the end of 2025.
His professional profile is built on an interdisciplinary academic foundation of economics, international relations, and strategic communication. He studied North American Studies, Political Science, and Economics at the University of Bonn before earning a Master’s degree in American Studies from the University of Amsterdam. His thesis, titled "European Monetary Union from an American Perspective," was nominated for the Theodore Roosevelt American History Award. Mark also studied International Business and Trade at American University in Washington, D.C., while working for a global strategy and communications firm. Additionally, he holds an MBA with honors in Communication & Leadership from Quadriga University Berlin.
