Brittany Street is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Missouri, starting in the fall of 2020.

Her research is centered on labor economics with an emphasis on populations directly or indirectly involved in the criminal justice system. One theme of Street’s research focuses on the spillovers of the criminal justice system to household members. Another theme focuses on employment among the justice-involved population, highlighting the importance of self-employment and informal labor.

Street received her PhD from Texas A&M University in 2019. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan—CJARS from 2019-2020 and a research fellow at the Opportunity for Inclusive Growth Institute at the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank in May 2024.

She joined the IZA network as a Research Affiliate in April 2024.
