Luca Flabbi is Professor in the Economics Department at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Previously, he has been Senior Research Economist in the Research Department at the Inter-American Development Bank and Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Georgetown University. In May 2004, he completed his Ph.D. in Economics in the Department of Economics at New York University with a dissertation on gender differentials in the U.S. labor market.

His main fields of study are Labor, Applied Microeconomics and Microeconometrics. More specifically, he is interested in search and matching, gender differentials and discrimination, informality and inequality, wage determinants and seniority, schooling decisions and intergenerational mobility, bargaining in the labor market and in the household.

He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in September 2005 and became a Research Fellow in May 2008.
