Peter Kooreman is a professor of economics at Tilburg University. He holds degrees from the University of Amsterdam (MSc, 1980) and Tilburg University (PhD, 1986). He was previously employed at the Dutch Central Bank, Wageningen Agricultural University, and the University of Groningen. Peter's current primary field of research and teaching is health economics. He has published in the American Economic Review, Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Public Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, and other journals. He is a former President of the European Society for Population Economics.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2001.
