Oriana Bandiera

Oriana Bandiera is Associate Professor (Reader) in Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Oriana is co-director of the research programme in State Capabilities within the International Growth Centre at the LSE, coeditor of the BE Journal of Economic Analysis and Policy and fellow of CEPR and BREAD. Her research focuses on the study of contracts and incentives in a broad range of organizations and countries. Her work has been published in leading academic journals such as the American Economic Review, Econometrica and the Quarterly Journal of Economics. Her paper "Social Preferences and the Response to Incentives", with Iwan Barankay and Imran Rasul, has been awarded the 2007 IZA Young Labor Economist Award.

She joined the IZA network as a Research Fellow in June 2009 and collaborates closely with IZA's local team as an Associated Member, serving as Project Coordinator for the "Gender, Growth and Labour Markets in Low Income Countries Programme" (G²LM | LIC) since June 2019. She is also a member of the IZA Network Advisory Panel.
