Joachim Möller

Joachim Möller studied Philosophy and Economics at the Universities of Tübingen, Strasbourg and Konstanz, where he received his Diploma in Economics in 1977 and his Ph.D. in 1981. Also at the University of Konstanz he got his post-doctoral degree (Habilitation). Since 1991 Joachim Möller is full professor at the University of Regensburg. In research projects funded by the DFG he worked in “Regional Adjustment Processes” (2001-2005) and participates in “Flexibility Potentials in Heterogeneous Labour Markets” (since 2005). From 1999-2004 he was Elected Member of the Executive Committee of the European Association of Labour Economists (EALE), from 2000-2005 Research Fellow of the HWWA, Hamburg, from 2004 to today Head of the German Economic Association’s board on Regional Theory and Regional Policy (Verein für Socialpolitik) and from 2005-2007 the Director of the Osteuropa-Institut München/Regensburg. Since October 2007 Joachim Möller is the Director of the Federal Labour Office’s Institute of Employment Research (IAB), Nuremberg.

His research interests include Regional and Labour Economics, Empirical Macroeconomics and Applied Econometrics as well as East-West Economic Relationships.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in February 2008.
