Christian Merkl is professor of macroeconomics at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg and research professor at the Institute for Employment Research. From 2007 to 2010 he was assistant professor at the Christian Albrechts University, Kiel, and the head of the research group Monetary Policy at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. He obtained his PhD from the University of Kiel in May 2007. He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2007. Christian Merkl's research interests include labor economics, macroeconomics and the intersection of the two fields.
