Frederic Vermeulen (1974) is a professor of economics at the Department of Economics of the University of Leuven. He is also an international research fellow of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, CentER (Tilburg University), and IZA. His fields of interest are the economics of the family with a focus on demand analysis and labour supply. He has published in journals like Econometrica, American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Econometrics and Operations Research.

He joined IZA as a research fellow in May 2005.
