Marta C. Lopes is a Max Weber Fellow in Economics at the European University Institute. From September 2020 she will be an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

She obtained her PhD in 2019, at Nova School of Business and Economics, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, with the thesis entitled “Essays on Job and Unemployment Protection: The Impacts on Unemployment Duration, Wages, and Fertility”. During her PhD studies, she visited University College London, where she was based at the Centre for Microdata Methods and Practice (CeMMAP), between 2015 and 2019.

Her main research interests are Labour Economics, Family Economics, Public Economics and Applied Econometrics.

Marta C. Lopes joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in February 2019.
