Sherrilyn M. Billger is an Associate Professor of Economics at Illinois State University, where she is also the undergraduate program director. She received her PhD from the University of Illinois in 2000. After teaching at Union College, she joined the ISU faculty in 2002. She has also been a Guest Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development.

Her research focuses on issues such as incentive compensation, economics of education, top executive turnover, women's colleges, and educator labor markets, appearing or forthcoming in Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Industrial Relations, Economics of Education Review, Journal of Development Economics, and Journal of Labor Research, among others. She is currently a co-PI on a USDA national research initiative major grant investigating the causes and consequences of school closures. Current working papers investigate government corruption, migrant earnings distributions, economies of scale in education, and teacher pay incentives.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in July 2005.
