Joachim Wagner has been professor of economics at the institute of economics of the University of Lüneburg since 1993. He studied economics at the University of Hannover, where he received his diploma in 1979, his doctoral degree in 1984, and his habilitation in 1990. His current research interests include empirical economic research in labor economics, small business economics, industrial economics, and international economics. He has published numerous papers in national and international refereed journals and collective volumes. Joachim Wagner serves on the editorial board of Small Business Economics, and he is the special editor for the European Data Watch series published in Schmollers Jahrbuch - Zeitschrift für Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften. Furthermore, he is the coordinator of FiDASt, a network joining teams from various German federal states that work with the highly confidential micro data from official statistics inside the statistical offices.

Joachim Wagner joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2001.
