Professor of Economics at the Università Cattolica in Milan. He is research fellow at IZA (Bonn). He has been visiting scholar at the Université Paris-Dauphine, Université Paris2, Université du Maine, London School of Economics, University of Warwick, Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, Universitat Autonoma Barcelona, Universidad Argentina de Buenos Aires, Australian National University and University of New South Wales. He has been elected member of the executive committee and Treasurer of EALE (European Association of Labour Economists), member of the executive committee of AISRI (Associazione Italiana Relazioni Industriali) and past member of the executive committee of AIEL (Associazione Italiana degli Economisti del Lavoro). In 2000 he co-organised in Milan the first World Meeting of Labour economists (EALE-SOLE).
His research interests are in the field of labour economics, economics of education and health economics. He has published books on low pay employment, the economics of education and the shadow economy, as well as articles in refereed journals on: trade unions, unemployment and labour market institutions income mobility and inequality, wage structure and unemployment, low pay and social exclusion, work organisation, health economics and the economics of sport.

Claudio Lucifora joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April 2003.
